What shaped
the studio.
Articulory grew from more than 25 years of working across retail, interiors, visual merchandising, communications, creative direction and customer experience.
The work has taken many forms, but the part I've always loved most is seeing an idea become something real for another person.
A window that makes someone stop.
A space that invites them in.
A campaign that gives them a reason to return.
A small detail that makes an experience memorable.
Years of doing this work taught me that the best experiences rarely happen by accident.
Behind them is thought.
An understanding of the business. An understanding of the customer. A reason for what happens, when it happens and how it comes to life.
And then creativity gives those decisions form. That's the belief Articulory was built on.
Creativity shouldn't exist simply to make more things. It should make things matter.
We believe commercial success and meaningful customer experience can — and should — strengthen one another. Articulory exists to bring those perspectives together and help businesses create with greater purpose.
Because the businesses we remember aren't only the ones that sold us something. They're the ones that made us feel something.
A brand is seen first. But remembered by how it feels.
Built Through Practice
25+ years across design, retail, brand and customer experience.
The experience behind Articulory has been shaped across San Francisco, Malaysia and Australia — through interior architecture, retail design, visual merchandising, communication, creative leadership and customer experience.
Over 12 years with IKEA across Malaysia and Australia, Athena worked across multidisciplinary teams, major retail projects, commercial planning, new store development and national initiatives.
Later, as National Creative Manager at Gewürzhaus, she worked closely with the founders and CEO across brand, retail experience, visual merchandising, campaigns, packaging, digital and customer communication during a period of significant growth.
That breadth of practice continues to shape Articulory today — connecting commercial thinking with creative execution, and understanding how decisions ultimately show up in what people see, understand and experience.

The Thinking Behind work
Understand before you create
Good creative work begins with understanding — the business, the people it’s for and the reason something needs to exist.
People are part of the plan
Businesses make decisions. People experience them. We consider both — creating work that makes commercial sense and makes sense to the people it’s for.
Make it matter
More isn't always better. We believe in creating with intention — putting time, energy and creativity behind the things that deserve it.
How We Work
Founder-Led
Every engagement stays close to the founder, keeping senior thinking and creative direction involved from beginning to end.
01
Collaborative
The best work isn't created in isolation. We work closely with the people who know the business best, bringing an outside perspective while drawing on the knowledge already within it.
02
Intentionally Small
Articulory stays deliberately lean, allowing us to give each engagement the attention, depth of thinking and senior involvement it deserves.
03
Built to Flex
When specialist expertise is needed, we bring in trusted creative and production partners while keeping the overall direction connected.
04
Let's create something worth coming back to.
If the way we think resonates with you, we'd love to hear what you're building.
