Good Old Days — Designing Connection Through Memory

A concept exploring how thoughtful experience design can transform nostalgia into connection, belonging and shared memory.

What if nostalgia wasn't
really about the past?

When people speak about "the good old days", they are rarely longing for a specific time.

They are remembering shared meals, family traditions, stories passed between generations and the feeling of belonging that came with them.Good Old Days explored how thoughtful experience design could transform a vintage market into a place where people didn't simply browse, but connected through food, stories and shared rituals. From the event identity and printed keepsakes to environmental graphics, packaging and interactive experiences, every touchpoint was intentionally designed around one simple idea: creating moments people would remember together.

Food may bring people to the table. Stories are what make them stay.

The opportunity wasn't to create another nostalgic brand.

It was to understand what people are truly searching for.

Beyond food, vintage objects and tradition, people are seeking connection, belonging, identity and continuity.

The experience became a framework for creating those moments together.

Mapping the Experience

Rather than simply moving people through an event, the experience was intentionally designed as a journey. Each stage encouraged visitors to move from observing to participating—using food, storytelling and shared rituals to create moments of connection that could be carried beyond the event itself.

Arrive

Creating a warm welcome that invited people to slow down and step into a different pace.

Sparking curiosity through vintage objects, food and stories that encouraged conversation and discovery.

Explore

Participate

Creating keepsakes and rituals that allowed the experience to live on
beyond the event.

Inviting people to carry the stories, recipes and traditions home to share around their own table.

Carry It Forward

Designing Belonging Into Every Touchpoint

Every touchpoint was designed to encourage participation, conversation and memory-sharing — turning nostalgia into a living experience rather than a passive feeling.
